HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has awarded Phoenixville Borough $900,000 from the state Multimodal Transportation Funds. This funding is designated for significant improvements to Bridge and Starr Streets. The project includes extending Starr Street North to provide an additional exit for Ashland Street and enhancing access to SEPTA services.

The grant is part of a broader initiative that includes 66 projects across 32 counties in Pennsylvania, totaling $51 million. These funds aim to improve transportation infrastructure, enhance pedestrian safety, and revitalize transit systems.

“This funding will address some key safety, traffic flow and public transportation needs in Phoenixville benefiting the whole community,” stated state Rep. Paul Friel. “This infusion of state funding is a wise use of our resources, helping to keep costs down for local taxpayers while improving the quality of life for those who live, work and travel in Phoenixville.”

The planned improvements in Phoenixville are set to address key safety and traffic flow issues, benefiting the entire community. The extension of Starr Street North will alleviate congestion and provide better traffic management. Enhanced SEPTA access is expected to improve public transportation options for residents.
