HARRISBURG, PA — Minch Park in Parkesburg Borough is set to undergo significant renovations thanks to a $168,074 state grant awarded under the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program. The funding, approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, will address critical updates to improve the park’s accessibility and facilities.
The project will focus on making Minch Park compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), updating its playground equipment, and enhancing its tennis courts and pedestrian pathways. These improvements aim to make the park more inclusive and functional for all community members, including children with disabilities.
“This funding will revitalize Minch Park, which has served as a central gathering place for generations of Parkesburg residents,” said State Rep. Dan Williams, D-Chester. “Over the years, the park’s equipment and facilities have deteriorated, limiting its accessibility and usability. With this investment, we can ensure that Minch Park remains a safe and inclusive space for all members of our community, including children with disabilities.”
Williams, who expressed his deep connection to the park, emphasized the importance of making it enjoyable for everyone. “Ensuring that every child — regardless of ability — can fully enjoy our community’s most beloved park is a priority. I’m proud to support this investment, and I look forward to seeing these improvements come to life.”
The grant is funded through Act 13 of 2012, which channels a portion of unconventional gas well impact fees toward greenways, recreational trails, open spaces, and park projects across Pennsylvania.
These renovations will ensure Minch Park continues to be a vital community hub, fostering recreation and inclusivity for years to come.
