WEST CHESTER, PA — The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is announcing that 54 local businesses have committed to sponsoring five weekends of holiday lights, decorations and festivities during the first-ever Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester.
“This is an unprecedented outpouring of support that ensures we can plan for thousands of twinkling lights and holiday festivities as visitors from across the region enjoy our one-of-a-kind shops, restaurants and other small businesses just when they need it most,” says Katie Walker, President of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, the organizer of Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester.
West Chester Mayor Jordan Norley says, “We pride ourselves on creating a supportive business environment here in West Chester, but this really is an extraordinary show of unity in extraordinary times. It just shows that when we all work together, we are all uplifted.”
The streets of historic West Chester will be bathed in the glow of thousands of holiday lights every evening from November 26 to January 1. Each weekend will feature a new set of holiday festivities, including First Responders and Health Care Heroes Weekend sponsored by Krapf Transportation, with 100% of QR code donations going to local fire departments, police departments, EMS and health care workers. Additional weekends are still available for sponsorship including Shop Small Business Weekend, Old-Fashioned Holiday Weekend, ‘Twas the Weekend Before Christmas and Happy New Year Weekend.
Entire blocks of the borough will be illuminated thanks to Benchmark Federal Credit Union, First Bank of New Jersey, West Chester University, West Chester Business Improvement District and West Pharmaceutical Services. Half-block sponsors include A.J. Blosenski, Inc., CTDI, Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, Media One Products, Penn Oaks Golf Club, Rothman Orthopaedics, Rudloff Custom Builders and West Chester Dental Arts.
The borough’s beloved tree lighting ceremony at the Historic Courthouse on December 3 will feature surprise guests and entertainment including the West Chester University Gospel Choir, West Chester University Marching Band, a cappella group Under A Rest and West Chester Area School District Elementary Honors Chorus, sponsored by Lamb McErlane PC.
Every Saturday from 2pm to 3pm at the Historic Courthouse until December 18, the “Making Spirits Bright Holiday Music Series” is made possible by First Bank of New Jersey, with Taylors Music providing musical equipment.
Children can wave to Santa as he tours the borough on a fire truck every Saturday at 3pm, sponsored by Tolsdorf Oil Lube Express. In addition, a professional Gingerbread House Competition is made possible at select locations by Delphi Wealth Management. On New Year’s Weekend, it’s your last chance to take a glowing stroll through the borough’s historic streets, and enjoy New Year’s Eve signature drinks and appetizers from your favorite West Chester restaurants.
