KENNETT SQUARE, PA — State Rep. Christina Sappey, D-Chester, announced that her free Drive-Thru Shred Event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24 at Unionville High School, 750 Unionville Road in Kennett Square.

The Shred Event, co-hosted by state Sen. John Kane, is an opportunity for residents to safely dispose of documents containing personal information, thereby protecting them from potential identity theft.

“Free shred events like this one are essential to the community,” Sappey said, “helping to ensure that personal information isn’t compromised and allowing residents to have peace of mind.”

Only paper, paper clips, and staples are acceptable at this rain-or-shine event. Drivers are asked to remain in their car and open their trunk; staff members will empty the car and the materials will be shredded on-site. There is a four box or bag limit per car. The bags/boxes will be returned after they are emptied. This event is for individuals only, not businesses, and will run from 11 a.m. until the trucks are full.

“I am happy to work with Representative Sappey to provide a safe and secure way to dispose of sensitive documents and personal information while also promoting sustainability by recycling paper materials,” Kane said. “I invite and encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and help keep our community safe and green.”

In addition, Kennett Area Community Services will be on-site to collect nonperishable food donations from attendees. While donations are welcome and encouraged, they are not required to access the free shredding services.
