KENNETT SQUARE, PA — As it gears up for its 25th season, the Kennett Square Farmers Market (KSQ) is looking stronger and more vibrant than ever. This perennial community institution continues to nurture locals through growth, connection, and a shared sense of belonging much like the fertile ground that gives birth to the bountiful produce the community loves and cherishes.
From its new location outside Borough Hall, it promises the freshest produce, handcrafted goods, and unique finds from the area’s best farmers and artisans. If the location rings a bell, it’s because 600 S. Broad has been the home of Kennett’s popular events like the Kennett Brewfest, Winterfest, and Clover Market.
Steeped in the same spirit that bound producers and shoppers together at the previous location, The Creamery on Birch Street, the KSQ Farmers Market will continue to serve as a community hub every Friday starting May 3rd.
The move to 600 Broad comes with great anticipation of growth and expansion. Ros Fenton, the Market Manager, shares that the farmers market is set to welcome more vendors than ever before, while also ensuring ample onsite parking for both customers and vendors.
The KSQ Farmers Market is a vibrant habitat for fresh faces and familiar favorites alike among the farmers, makers, and artisans. Dedicated to selling what they grow and harvesting only what’s ripe, fresh, and locally in season, the farmers at KSQ ensure quality and flavor that you won’t find in any supermarket. Here, you get the chance to gleam a glimpse of the people behind your food, forging meaningful connections within the community.
The market season will see close to 40 producers participating on different weeks, making every Friday an exciting blend of new products and comforting familiarity. If you want a sneak peek of who’s coming and what’s fresh, signing up for the “What’s Fresh” newsletter at ksqfarmersmarket.com is a great way to stay updated.
Some exciting newcomers to look forward to this season include Madi’s on a Roll, Succession Fermentory and Revolution Bees meads, and Wild for Salmon, Pennsylvania-based fishermen who bring in wild-caught Alaskan salmon. While new faces are always exciting, the market’s familiar favorites continue to form the backbone of the market. From fresh produce to sourdough breads, pastries, grass-fed and pastured meats and eggs, dairy products, and other small food producers and artisans, the KSQ Farmers Market has something for everyone!
The KSQ Farmers Market aims to be more than just a place to buy and sell. It is a platform for supporting, promoting, and encouraging individuals and organizations. It continues a fruitful partnership with Kennett Area Community Services (KACS) by collecting dry goods to fill their food pantry. This season, the collection expands to fresh produce, letting shoppers donate farm-fresh items to KACS.
With a quarter-century under its belt, the KSQ Farmers Market stands as a testament to the community’s resilience, resourcefulness, and sense of unity. Its Executive Director, Daniel Embree, proudly shares that the market has been a gathering place for friends and neighbors, a small-business incubator, an educational platform, and a beacon for healthy eating and reaching out to those in need.
As the KSQ Farmers Market looks forward to its 25th year of serving and enriching Kennett’s community, we invite everyone to join the festive launch on Friday, May 3rd, from 3 to 6 pm. Whether you’re a local patron, a first-time visitor, or one of our extraordinary local farmers or makers, we can’t wait to welcome you in our continuing mission to deepen community bonds over the freshest produce and artisanal creations.
