HARRISBURG, PAState Representative Paul Friel announced the approval of $70,209 in state funding for the development of a skatepark and pump track in Elverson. The grant, provided through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, will support the construction of the recreational project in Livingood Park.

The initiative, led by Action-Impact Inc., a local nonprofit organization, will transform unused land into a 4,758-square-foot skatepark and a pump track, designed to serve riders and skaters of all ages. The total project cost is estimated at $82,740, with Action-Impact contributing an additional $12,531 in matching funds.

“The community is really looking forward to this new amenity because of the excitement that pump tracks and skateparks create for riders and skaters of all ages,” said Rep. Friel. “Any time we can steer funding toward our communities, the taxpayer and, in this case, park enthusiasts, win big.”

Funding for the grant comes from natural gas drilling fees under the Marcellus Legacy Fund, which supports the development and rehabilitation of greenways, recreational trails, and public parks. Rep. Friel acknowledged the efforts of Action-Impact Inc. in advocating for the project and expressed gratitude for their role in enhancing recreational opportunities in the area.

“Thank you to Action-Impact for their advocacy and commitment to making Elverson more fun, safe and appealing all at the same time,” Friel added.

Local businesses, organizations, and public entities seeking state funding for similar projects are encouraged to contact Rep. Friel’s office for guidance on the application process.
