ELVERSON, PA — On October 14, 2023, the Great Marsh Institute in Elverson, Pennsylvania will be transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity, education, and community spirit with the return of its annual event, Arts at the Great Marsh. This unique gathering that seamlessly blends art and science is scheduled to take place from 11 AM to 4 PM.
The Great Marsh Institute, a renowned environmental non-profit organization based in Chester County, is all set to host the third edition of this unique event. The brainchild of GMI’s Administrative Assistant and Dance Artist, Mijkalena Smith, Arts at the Great Marsh aims to broaden environmental knowledge and consciousness through the medium of art.
Past editions have witnessed collaborations with dance companies and artists who have performed site-specific pieces to underline the natural landscape that the institute strives to preserve.
This year, the event is free to the public and promises a diverse range of activities for attendees. Local vendors including Barking Tree Pottery, HilaryJanePics, Exton Bee Company, and Davis Witmer Visual Arts will be showcasing their products and crafts, offering visitors a chance to support small businesses while indulging in retail therapy.
The event also promises to be a feast for the senses, with live demonstrations and performances throughout the day. Remix Dance Collective, a local dance studio, will showcase their talents, while Movement Designed to Feel Good will lead a beginner Pilates class. A beginner swing dancing lesson, accompanied by live music, is sure to get attendees up and moving!
In keeping with the institute’s mission, members of GMI’s Science Advisory Board will offer educational talks on the flora and fauna of the Great Marsh, providing a perfect blend of fun and learning.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in art, science, and community spirit. Mark your calendars for October 14, 2023, and join us at the Great Marsh Institute, rain or shine. For more information about Arts at the Great Marsh, visit https://greatmarshinstitute.org/event/atgm2023/.
