DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Communities that Care of Greater Downingtown (CTC) proudly announced the winners of its 4th annual alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention youth video contest. The contest invited all 7th to 12th-grade students in the Downingtown Area School District to create motivational videos showcasing how their healthy lifestyle choices can inspire others to avoid drugs and alcohol.
Lauren Hancock, a ninth grader at Downingtown West High School, secured first prize with her inspiring video. Her entry highlighted the ripple effect of positive choices and their impact on the community. Taking second place were Ishaan Karamchandani, a tenth grader, and Rishab Jain, a twelfth grader, both from Downingtown STEM Academy. Their collaborative video presented various ways to support neighbors and community members through healthy living choices.
The winners will receive cash prizes up to $250 and will be featured on CTC of Greater Downingtown’s social media platforms.
CTC of Greater Downingtown aims to celebrate and reinforce the fact that most youth do not engage in drug or alcohol use. This message is supported by data from the Downingtown Area School District Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS), which reveals that 85.6% of DASD youth had not consumed alcohol in the past 30 days, and 90.1% had not used marijuana in the same period.
This contest highlights the commitment and creativity of Downingtown’s youth in promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
