Big Changes Coming to Downingtown’s Trash Pickup in 2025—Here’s What You Need to Know Now!

Downingtown

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown Borough has announced updates to its waste collection services as its new contract with Whitetail Disposal LLC took effect on January 1, 2025. Key changes to trash and recycling practices aim to enhance efficiency and provide clearer communication for residents.

Under the new agreement, trash and recycling will continue to be collected on Thursdays. However, the first collection of the year will take place on Friday, January 3, 2025, due to the New Year’s Day holiday. Holiday schedule updates will be shared via the borough’s website and in a brochure mailed by Whitetail Disposal.

Bulk trash collection will see a notable change starting in 2025. Residents will be permitted to dispose of one bulk item per month, which will be picked up on the last Thursday of each month. However, pickups must now be scheduled in advance. To ensure collection, residents must contact Whitetail Disposal by emailing DB@whitetaildisposal.com or calling (610) 936-9967 no later than 12:00 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding bulk collection day.

Additionally, reporting of missed collections will also change. Effective immediately, residents must report any service issues directly to Whitetail Disposal using the contact information provided. Detailed instructions will be posted on the Downingtown Borough page of Whitetail Disposal’s website.

These updates mark a new phase in waste management for Downingtown Borough as it works to improve service delivery and communication with residents.
