Chester County Toys for Tots to Host a Charity Golf Tournament

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Chester County Toys for Tots is ramping up for the 2021 giving season by hosting their inaugural Charity Golf Tournament. The event will be hosted on Monday, October 18th at the Whitford County Club in Exton, and is designed to raise funds for the program. Last year Chester County Toys for Tots brought the joy of Christmas to over 10,000 less fortunate children in Chester and Montgomery Counties.

While each individual campaign is supported by the Toys for Tots Foundation, volunteers in each area are focused on collecting toys and funds from the communities they serve. The Chester County campaign will also be assisting areas in Montgomery County that are not represented by a local campaign, which will increase the number of families and agencies that can apply for assistance in 2021.

The Chester County campaign restarted after a year’s hiatus in 2020, with a new Coordinator, Jeffrey Smith. “Last year was an interesting time to be taking on these responsibilities, but the community really came through, with toy drop sites, virtual toy drives, and volunteers coming forward to help those in need throughout Chester County,” Smith said. “In 2019, other local campaigns helped Chester County residents, which is why we’re going to do what needs to be done for unserved areas of Montgomery County this year”

The campaign is actively soliciting sponsors, as well as those who would like participate in the event. The goal is to have a foursome at each of Whitford’s 18 holes for the shotgun scramble start, with dinner and awards after the event. Funds raised will be used for purchase to supplement the toys collected from the community, and to close the gaps between collected toys and needs. “We tend to get more toys in the 3-5 age range than we have applicants, but we also collect far fewer toys for those over the age of 11 than we have a need for,” Smith said. “When possible, our volunteers with kids in those age ranges help us decide what gifts would be appropriate”
