HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) announced that the total revenue generated from all forms of gaming and fantasy contests in February 2025 reached $477.3 million, marking a 4.38% decrease compared to February 2024. However, online casino gaming (iGaming) showed significant growth, offsetting declines in other areas.
Notable Trends and Figures
iGaming continued its upward trajectory, with revenue climbing 12.3% year-over-year to a record $207.6 million. Tax revenue from iGaming reached $91.8 million, demonstrating the sector’s sustained momentum.
On the other hand, brick-and-mortar operations experienced declines. Slot machine revenue fell 8.12% to $186.3 million, with the number of active machines slightly reduced from 24,886 in February 2024 to 24,404 this year. Table games generated $71.2 million, a 7.16% decrease from the previous February.
Retail sports wagering saw a sharp decline in revenue despite an increase in total betting handle. The total handle rose 14.38% to $756.9 million, but taxable revenue dropped by 75.26% to $7.5 million.
Other gaming categories remained relatively stable. Video gaming terminals (VGTs) brought in $3.2 million, a slight 1.15% dip from last year. Fantasy contest revenue increased by 17.46% to $1.5 million, with associated tax revenue reaching $224,393.
Overall Tax Revenue
February 2025’s gaming activity generated significant tax revenue across all sectors, with slot machines alone contributing $94.2 million, followed by iGaming and table games.
