Overnight Lane Closures Announced for I-476 Resurfacing and Repairs

Traffic Restrictions

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has detailed upcoming weeknight lane closures on I-476 as part of a $63.7 million project to improve nearly 17 miles of roadway between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges.

From Monday, March 17, through Friday, April 4, lane closures will occur on northbound and southbound I-476 from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM for inlet and guiderail replacement and tree trimming. Additional lane closures are planned for Monday, March 24, through Wednesday, March 26, on southbound I-476 between Marple Road and Reed Road, and on northbound I-476 between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, for survey work tied to future improvements.

This multi-faceted project includes resurfacing and repairing lanes and shoulders, structural updates to 49 bridges, upgrades to 21 stormwater basins, slope stabilization, and enhanced roadway safety features. According to PennDOT, the project aims to extend the roadway’s design life while improving safety and driving conditions.

H&K Group, Inc., based in Skippack, PA, is leading the federally funded project, with completion anticipated in late 2025.

Motorists are urged to allocate extra time when traveling through the affected areas, as delays and backups are expected. PennDOT noted that all work schedules are weather dependent.
