LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Scott Engler and catcher Andrew Semo as the team prepares for the upcoming 2025 season. Both players bring unique strengths and experience to the roster, rounding out the Stormers’ lineup as they aim for another successful campaign.
Engler, 28, returns for his second season with the Stormers after making a significant impact during the 2024 season. The Wichita, Kansas native joined the team mid-season and quickly became a vital piece of the bullpen, helping the Stormers clinch their third consecutive second-half Northern Division title. Engler posted an impressive 2.66 ERA across 18 regular season appearances, securing two wins and a save while allowing just 13 hits and striking out 25 in 20.1 innings.
“Engler will be a valuable arm in our bullpen,” said Ross Peeples, the Stormers’ manager. “He can fit into a couple of different roles out there. He is a true professional on and off the field.”
Before joining the Stormers, Engler spent part of the 2024 season with the Wichita Wind Surge, the Class AA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. A former 16th-round draft pick by the Texas Rangers in 2016, he also previously played at the Class AAA level with the Rangers’ Round Rock affiliate.
New addition Andrew Semo, 24, will make his United States professional debut in 2025. A native of San Diego, Semo played collegiate baseball at Fordham University before transferring to the University of San Diego for his final year. During his five college seasons, Semo played in 145 games and posted a .263 batting average. Over the winter, he gained international experience with the Sydney Blue Sox of the Australian Baseball League.
“Semo is a younger guy who came highly recommended by a couple of coaches in big league organizations,” Peeples noted. “He is a strong ‘catch-and-throw’ guy, and they tell me his makeup is off the charts. We look forward to seeing him compete at this level.”
The Stormers now have 13 players signed for the 2025 season, which kicks off April 25 on the road against the Long Island Ducks. Fans can catch them at home when they open their schedule at Penn Medicine Park on May 2 against the Gastonia Ghost Peppers.
