PHRA and Delaware Valley University Offer Live Stream of Foaling Season

Pennsylvania Horse Racing Association

HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Horse Racing Association (PHRA) has partnered with Delaware Valley University (DelVal) to provide horse racing enthusiasts and the public a rare glimpse into the 2025 foaling season. Through live-streamed ‘foal cams,’ viewers can watch three mares as they prepare to give birth to the next generation of competitive racehorses. The free streams will run from March 1 through April 7 on PennHorseRacing.com.

The foal cams, hosted at DelVal’s Sydney J. Markovitz Equine Breeding Center in Doylestown, offer an uninterrupted look into the lives of three expectant thoroughbred and standardbred mares. Viewers will witness daily interactions between the mares and their caretakers, with the added excitement of experiencing the births live.

A PHRA spokesperson emphasized that this initiative showcases the intriguing field of horse breeding while also reinforcing Delaware Valley University’s dedication to hands-on learning. DelVal students in the Equine Science and Management program, guided by faculty and a stable manager, gain practical experience in all aspects of equine care, including assisting with foaling and breeding procedures.

Details on the mares and their sires include the following cases of interest:

  • Thistle Dhu (due March 19): In foal to Temporal Hanover, a Grand Circuit winner at two and three years old.
  • To The Good Life (due March 31): Bred to Volume Eight, the 2022 Dan Patch Two-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year.
  • Ocean Love Potion (due March 31): Expecting a foal sired by Green Manalishi, a champion son of legendary racehorse Muscle Hill.

Beyond the live feed, visitors can find breeding resources, videos, polls, and even gender reveal updates on the PHRA’s website. This initiative not only showcases the science and excitement behind horse racing but also fosters appreciation for the care and expertise required in equine management.
