DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced upcoming nighttime traffic disruptions on Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) as part of a $36 million project to replace two bridges over Darby Creek in Prospect Park Borough and Tinicum Township.

On Thursday, March 6, traffic on southbound Route 420 between 4th Avenue and Interstate 95 will experience five 15-minute stoppages between 8 PM and 6 AM to allow crews to install beams for the new southbound bridge. Motorists are advised to anticipate significant delays and plan alternative routes where possible.

Access from Lazaretto Road to southbound Route 420, and from Lafayette Avenue at 2nd Avenue to both directions of Route 420, remains prohibited. Detour routes are clearly posted for affected drivers.

PennDOT expects construction on the southbound bridge to be completed by late summer, after which work will commence on replacing the northbound structure. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent and subject to adjustments.
