NEWARK, DE — The Delaware State Police have charged a Newark man with multiple felonies following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and solicitation involving a minor.

According to authorities, 45-year-old David DiFilippo, a teacher at George V. Kirk Middle School in Newark, is accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with a student between September 2023 and February 2024.

The investigation began in August 2024, when Troop 2 Major Crimes Detectives received reports alleging that DiFilippo had engaged in sexually explicit online communications with the student. Over the course of the six-month period, DiFilippo allegedly also made inappropriate physical contact with the minor during school hours, which, according to investigators, caused the victim distress.

After months of investigation, police obtained a warrant for DiFilippo’s arrest. On February 20, 2025, he turned himself in at Troop 2, where he was formally charged with multiple crimes, including sexual solicitation of a child and sexual abuse of a minor by a person in a position of trust.

DiFilippo was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting a $65,500 secured bond.

Authorities have urged anyone with further information or additional victims to come forward by contacting Delaware State Police Detective M. Conway at 302-365-8411 or by reaching out to Delaware Crime Stoppers.

Charges remain allegations at this time. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
