COLLEGEVILLE, PA — Tam Le, a 53-year-old inmate on death row at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix, was found unresponsive in his cell on the evening of February 4, 2025. Staff and medical personnel quickly initiated life-saving measures, but Le was pronounced dead at 7:23 p.m.
Le, sentenced to death in December 2016 by the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, was convicted for the 2014 murders of two brothers. He had been incarcerated at SCI Phoenix since his arrival on July 17, 2020.
Following standard procedure, the Pennsylvania State Police have been notified and are conducting an investigation into the matter. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
Prison officials confirmed that Le’s next-of-kin has been notified. Further details about the incident remain under review as authorities continue their investigation.
