KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Law enforcement officials have filed charges against a woman accused of falsely reporting her vehicle as stolen, following an investigation that uncovered discrepancies in her statement.
Yesenia Santiago, 33, contacted police on January 25, 2025, at approximately 8:58 PM, to report her vehicle missing. Santiago reported that the vehicle was last seen about two hours earlier on the 400 block of Magnolia Street in Kennett Square Borough.
Two days later, on January 27, at around 9:16 AM, a suspicious vehicle matching the description of the reported stolen car was found near Caliber Collision. The vehicle was discovered off the roadway and partially hanging off a short wall that bordered the property.
Upon further investigation, authorities determined that Santiago had been driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. Officials allege that she knowingly provided police with false information when she reported the car stolen.
Charges against Santiago include false reports to law enforcement, disorderly conduct, and several vehicle code violations. These charges were filed in District Court 15-3-04. A preliminary hearing is pending, and the case remains under review.
Authorities remind the public that criminal complaints and charges are allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
