Nighttime Construction on I-476 to Continue Next Week

Traffic Alert

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced ongoing nighttime construction on Interstate 476 next week as part of a $63.7 million improvement project. The work spans a 17-mile stretch of the interstate, including on-and-off ramps and bridges, between the I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) interchange in Montgomery County and the I-95 interchange in Delaware County.

From Monday, January 27, through Friday, January 31, lane closures will be in effect each night from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Crews will conduct guiderail replacement, inlet repairs, and tree trimming on both northbound and southbound lanes. Motorists are advised to expect delays and plan for additional travel time in the impacted areas.

The project encompasses resurfacing lanes and shoulders, repairing 49 bridges, upgrading stormwater drainage systems, and installing new guiderails and pavement markings. It aims to improve ride quality and safety while addressing infrastructure wear and environmental risks.

H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, PA, is managing the federally funded project, which is projected to conclude in late 2025. PennDOT encourages drivers to remain cautious and stay updated on traffic advisories throughout the construction period.
