COATESVILLE, PA — Starting in July 2025, Union Community Care will officially take over as the healthcare provider at the Brandywine Center, bringing its comprehensive and community-focused health services to the Greater Coatesville area. This milestone comes as ChesPenn Health Services concludes its 17-year tenure at the 10,000-square-foot facility located at 744 East Lincoln Highway.
Union Community Care’s selection was made possible through the Alliance for Health Equity (AHE), which provided a $1,050,000 grant to support the transition. This partnership reflects a shared mission to promote health equity, address disparities, and expand access to affordable and inclusive healthcare that empowers Coatesville residents and families to thrive.
“We are excited to welcome Union Community Care as a partner in our shared mission to improve health outcomes and ensure access for folks as they need it,” said Kevin Ressler, AHE’s President and CEO. “Union’s innovative approach and expertise in expanding service offerings will play a critical role in shaping the future of healthcare in Greater Coatesville. With the changing landscape of health services locally, regionally, and even nationally, it was important for us to be ahead of the coming wave of challenges for health services available to a community that has too often been left behind.”
The transition will include collaboration between Union Community Care, ChesPenn Health Services, and local stakeholders to ensure a seamless handover of operations. Starting in March, ChesPenn’s Care Teams will reach out to patients personally to provide support and ensure continuity of care. ChesPenn has affirmed its commitment to facilitating a smooth transition for both staff and patients.
“We are grateful for the collaborative partnerships all Community Health Centers share, and we share in the excitement to know the community of Coatesville will not experience a gap in health care service,” said Susan Harris McGovern, ChesPenn Health Services’ President and CEO. “But that’s not all – Union Community Care’s purpose to provide healthcare that is person-focused, grounded in community, and driven by purpose – not profit – so that the communities they serve can live life to the fullest is a continuation of exactly what the community and staff will receive. Congratulations, Union Community Care. Congratulations, Coatesville residents. And current ChesPenn Coatesville staff, we transfer you into welcoming, willing, and capable hands.”
Union Community Care’s approach, described as their “whole health, whole community” model, includes primary medical care, maternal and child health services, dental care, behavioral health, and social support. Recognizing the unique strengths and needs of the Coatesville community, Union plans to engage residents directly through listening sessions, meet-and-greets, and various community events in the coming months.
“Having lived in Chester County with my family for over 10 years, I know how special and vibrant the Coatesville community is,” said Alisa Maria Jones, MPH, President and CEO of Union Community Care. “We are thrilled to join the Coatesville community as its partner in health. Our first steps will be listening to and learning from the community so that every person feels seen, valued, and supported. We’re committed to building on AHE’s foundation of health equity by understanding what folks and families value most in their healthcare and tailoring our services to meet those needs.”
This transition represents a promising step forward for Coatesville, bridging gaps in healthcare and fostering a more equitable community. With Union Community Care’s inclusive model and focus on patient-driven services, the future of health and wellness in Coatesville looks both hopeful and inspiring.
