WEST CHESTER, PA — State Representative Chris Pielli, D-Chester, in collaboration with the Housing Authority of Chester County, will host a “Scam Jam” event designed to educate West Chester seniors on recognizing and avoiding fraud.
The free event is scheduled for Thursday, January 16, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Charles Melton Center, located at 201 E. Miner Street in West Chester. Representative Pielli will be joined by experts from the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities, the Office of Attorney General, the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, and the West Chester Police Department.
Highlighting the increasing sophistication of scams, Pielli emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “Scammers are using rapidly advancing technology to exploit vulnerable individuals, particularly seniors. This collaboration with law enforcement and legal professionals is crucial in equipping our community to stay informed and protected.”
Participants will learn the latest tactics used by fraudsters and gain tools to safeguard personal information. Space for the event is limited, and pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Interested attendees can register by calling the Housing Authority of Chester County at 610-436-9200.
The “Scam Jam” aims to educate and empower community members to recognize and prevent scams, as well as provide resources for those who may have fallen victim.
