NEW CASTLE, DE — Delaware State Police have identified three Connecticut men as suspects in a series of alleged burglaries at storage facilities in New Castle, Delaware, last month. Two suspects have been apprehended, while a third remains at large.
Authorities began investigating the incidents on November 16, 2024, after a string of burglaries was reported at two Public Storage facilities in New Castle on November 12. Investigators say that three individuals allegedly accessed the facilities using a fictitious account and a rented Home Depot van. Once inside, the suspects are accused of breaking into multiple storage units, stealing more than $35,000 in property, and causing extensive damage.
The suspects were identified as Aaron Kearney, 25, of West Haven; Deshawn Sawyer, 26, of Stratford; and Darryck Norris, 31, of Waterbury. Police developed their identities through collaborative efforts with out-of-state law enforcement agencies and obtained warrants for their arrests on charges related to burglary and property theft.
Sawyer was taken into custody in Connecticut on December 17, 2024. He is currently incarcerated there, awaiting extradition to Delaware, where he will face multiple felony charges, including burglary, theft, and conspiracy. Kearney voluntarily turned himself in to Delaware State Police on December 18, 2024. He has also been charged with multiple felony offenses and was released on a $47,000 unsecured bond following his arraignment.
Authorities are still searching for Norris, who is wanted on similar felony charges. Investigators are seeking assistance from the public to locate him.
