WILMINGTON, DE — A 17-year-old male juvenile was taken into custody by Wilmington Police on December 13, 2024, after an attempted vehicle stop led to a brief pursuit and the recovery of stolen firearms.

The incident began around 10:25 p.m. when officers from the Uniformed Services Division identified a stolen vehicle in the 300 block of North Madison Street. Upon attempting a traffic stop, the driver fled the scene, prompting officers to search for the vehicle. It was later located near West 9th and Gray Streets, and the driver was apprehended following a short foot chase.

During the arrest, authorities recovered two .40 caliber handguns, including one that had been previously reported stolen. The juvenile now faces multiple charges, including three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, receiving stolen firearms, resisting arrest, and other traffic violations.

Following arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, the individual was detained at the New Castle County Detention Center with bail set at $37,600, cash-only.

Officials stress that these allegations are part of an ongoing legal process. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
