UPPER HANOVER TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has revealed plans for resurfacing operations in Montgomery County aimed at enhancing roadway conditions and ensuring safer travel. The upcoming improvements will focus on a well-traveled segment of Kutztown Road and are expected to affect traffic flow in the area.

From Monday, December 16, through Friday, December 20, motorists traveling on Kutztown Road should anticipate lane closures between Route 663 (Layfield Road) and the Berks County line. Work is scheduled to occur daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM during this period. The closures are necessary to facilitate milling and paving, which are integral components of this resurfacing initiative.

Drivers navigating through these zones are encouraged to allow additional time for their commutes, as delays and backups are likely. The construction activities are weather-dependent and may be adjusted in the event of adverse conditions.

This project forms part of a broader statewide effort by PennDOT to maintain and improve Pennsylvania’s highway network. Through this initiative, contractors will repair and mill the roadway, followed by the application of a new asphalt surface. These updates are intended to extend the pavement’s lifespan, provide a smoother overall driving experience, and enhance motorist safety.

PennDOT continues to emphasize the importance of maintaining a secure and reliable transportation infrastructure. Temporary inconveniences such as detours or delays are essential to delivering long-term benefits on key routes such as Kutztown Road. Motorists are urged to remain cautious and adhere to posted signage within and around work zones to ensure their safety, as well as that of construction workers.
