WILMINGTON, DE — The New Castle County Division of Police is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect believed to be connected to a series of alleged residential burglaries that occurred in November in Wilmington. The reported incidents, which primarily took place along Faulk Road, Fairfax Boulevard, Darley Road, and surrounding areas, are currently under investigation.
Detectives believe the suspect is targeting homes after determining they are unoccupied. According to authorities, the individual typically approaches residences by first checking the front door, ostensibly to ascertain if anyone is present. Once confident the house is empty, the suspect reportedly moves to a less conspicuous area, such as the rear or side of the property, to gain entry. Entry methods vary, with some cases involving the use of unsecured doors or windows, while others reportedly show forced access by breaking windows or doors.
Surveillance footage from one of the incidents reveals the suspect approaching a home and checking the locked status of the front door. Upon noticing a security camera system, the individual appears to improvise by pretending to deliver a package, using a cell phone to simulate the act of scanning before leaving the property.
Authorities have also linked the individual to a light-colored vehicle, though its make and model remain undetermined. The car is suspected of being used in connection with these alleged burglaries.
