PITTSBURGH, PA — Senator-Elect Dave McCormick has appointed State Senator and Republican Whip Ryan Aument as his State Director, marking the first major staffing decision of his incoming U.S. Senate term. Aument, an Army veteran and a dedicated public servant, will oversee McCormick’s Senate offices across Pennsylvania, ensuring strong constituent services and fostering connections throughout the state.

“I am thrilled that State Senator Ryan Aument has agreed to serve as State Director in my new Senate office,” said McCormick. “A fellow Army veteran, Ryan has been a fantastic representative for the constituents of Lancaster and whip for the Republican Majority. I am grateful that he will bring his extensive experience serving the people of Pennsylvania to this key role.”

Aument, who has represented northern Lancaster County in the Pennsylvania State Senate since 2014, expressed both gratitude and a readiness to serve in his new capacity. “It has been an honor to serve in the State Senate, and I am looking forward to continuing to serve the people of Pennsylvania in this new, important role,” he said. “Senator-Elect McCormick is going to be a principled, dedicated, hard-working leader for our commonwealth, and I’m excited to support his efforts.”

Aument plans to officially resign from his position in the State Senate prior to McCormick’s swearing-in on January 3, 2025. During the transition, Aument’s senate offices will remain open to assist constituents with state-related matters. Once his resignation is formalized, the lieutenant governor will have 10 days to set the date for a special election to fill his seat in the 36th Senatorial District.
