VALLEY FORGE, PA — Vanguard has announced the upcoming retirement of Karin Risi, managing director and head of Strategy, Product, Marketing, and Communications, at the end of 2024. Ms. Risi will conclude a remarkable 27-year tenure marked by significant contributions to the firm’s growth, strategy, and innovation.
Since joining Vanguard in 1997, Ms. Risi has held a variety of leadership roles, becoming a member of the senior executive team in 2015. Among her notable achievements, she spearheaded the creation of Vanguard Personal Advisor, an advisory platform offering affordable wealth management to individual investors. This pioneering initiative has been recognized for expanding access to financial advice. Ms. Risi has also overseen the expansion of Vanguard’s portfolio, which now includes more than 400 mutual funds and ETFs designed to meet the evolving needs of clients worldwide.
Beyond her strategic influence, Ms. Risi has been a champion for diversity and leadership development within the company. She helped establish Vanguard’s Women’s Initiative for Leadership Success and played an active role in mentoring the next generation of leaders. Her efforts have been widely recognized, earning her a spot on Barron’s list of the 100 Most Influential Women in Finance for five consecutive years.
