Glen-Gery Corporation

WYOMISSING, PA — Glen-Gery Corporation has announced the winners of its first Architect Collaboration Program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at highlighting the creative potential of brick in modern architecture. The program invited architects, designers, and students to submit designs for innovative custom brick shapes, with winning concepts brought to life at Glen-Gery’s Mid-Atlantic Manufacturing Plant in Pennsylvania.

The winners were chosen for their inventive and forward-thinking designs, showcasing brick’s versatility and aesthetic appeal.

  • Trigon Brick by Brittany Macomber (Morris Adjmi Architects): This modern reimagining of classic brick details offers dimension and depth, allowing for versatile integration with modular bricks to create striking patterns.
  • Curve by Edward Jose (Loci Architecture): A sleek, elongated curved design, this brick reduces material usage while maintaining strength. Its convex and concave features can soften sound in noisy environments.
  • Facet Brick by Justin Bright (Gnome Architects): Diagonally chamfered corners add texture and patterning versatility, producing a dynamic visual effect.
  • The Weaver by Colin Rupp (Gnome Architects): Featuring alternating bevels, this design creates a distinctive weaving pattern while enhancing texture and play with light and shadow.

Each winner collaborated with Glen-Gery’s Research & Development Team to hand-mold their custom creations at the Shoemakersville plant. “We’re thrilled to launch this program to showcase brick’s limitless design possibilities while fostering collaboration and education within the architecture community,” said Tim Leese, director of marketing at Glen-Gery.

The unique bricks are now ready to inspire conceptual building projects, demonstrating how this age-old material continues to evolve through innovation and vision.
