PENN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that repair work will commence on the Pusey Mill Road bridge over U.S. 1 (Kennett-Oxford Bypass) in Penn Township. The bridge sustained structural damage from a vehicle strike in mid-November.
The following closures will be in effect from 10 p.m. on Friday, December 13, through 5 a.m. on Monday, December 16:
- U.S. 1 (Kennett-Oxford Bypass): Between the Route 796/Jennersville and Route 896/New London interchanges. Motorists will be detoured via Route 796 (Jennersville Road), Baltimore Pike, and Route 896 (Newark Road).
- Pusey Mill Road: Between Baltimore Pike and Forest Manor Road. Drivers will use Forest Manor Road/Penns Grove Road, Route 896 (Newark Road), and Baltimore Pike as alternate routes.
Additionally, a left lane closure on southbound U.S. 1 is scheduled for Friday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to facilitate construction preparations.
Drivers should anticipate delays and plan for extra travel time when navigating around the work zones.
The Pusey Mill Road bridge, built in 1967, spans 196 feet and accommodates an average of 911 vehicles daily. This repair project aims to address damage and ensure continued structural safety for motorists.
