NEWARK, DE — Authorities are investigating an alleged robbery that occurred on Wednesday evening at a Shell gas station in Newark, Delaware. The incident, which left a pedestrian seriously injured, is under active investigation by the Delaware State Police.
According to preliminary findings, the incident unfolded on December 4, 2024, at approximately 6:45 p.m., at the Shell station on 380 East Chestnut Hill Road. A 38-year-old man was walking through the parking lot when a red passenger car reportedly accelerated toward him at a high speed, striking him.
Authorities allege that the driver of the vehicle exited the car following the collision, stole the victim’s wallet, and promptly fled the scene. The injured man was transported to a local hospital, where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries.
The suspect in the case has been described as a white male. However, at this time, law enforcement has not released surveillance images or video footage of the incident.
While investigators believe this to be an isolated event, police have assured the public that there is no indication of any continued risk to the community.
