WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested two male juveniles after an incident involving a stolen vehicle that ended with a foot pursuit on December 3, 2023.
Around 10:43 a.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force, including Probation and Parole officials, observed a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and North Scott Street. When police attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of Lancaster Avenue and South Adams Street, the driver allegedly failed to comply and fled the scene, colliding with multiple vehicles during the attempt.
Shortly after the vehicle stopped, two male juveniles exited and fled on foot. Following a brief chase, officers apprehended a 15-year-old male and a 13-year-old male without incident.
The 15-year-old juvenile is facing charges of receiving stolen property over $1,500 and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $1,500 unsecured bail.
The 13-year-old male is charged with receiving stolen property over $1,500, resisting arrest, disregarding a police officer’s signal, and nine counts of reckless endangering in the second degree, along with several traffic violations. He was also arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was released on $3,100 unsecured bail.
Authorities have reiterated that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further details of the investigation have not been released at this time.
