BEAR, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating an alleged strong-arm robbery that occurred Monday evening at a popular Wawa store in Bear.
The incident was reported on December 2, 2024, at approximately 5:41 p.m., at the Wawa located at 1605 Pulaski Highway. According to the preliminary investigation, an unidentified male suspect approached a customer who had just completed a transaction at the store’s ATM. As the victim attempted to leave with the money, the suspect reportedly tried to seize it, leading to a physical confrontation.
The altercation escalated when the suspect pursued the victim toward the front of the store, where another struggle occurred. The suspect eventually obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot toward Salem Church Road. Authorities confirmed that the victim was not injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male wearing light-colored clothing. At this time, surveillance footage and images of the individual have not been made available to the public.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is leading the investigation. Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective J. Dempsey at (302) 365-8472. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
