LANCASTER, PA — Lancaster County officials have announced that Constellation will perform its semi-annual, full-volume test of the emergency warning sirens near the Peach Bottom Clean Energy Center on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The test will begin at approximately 1 p.m., during which the sirens will sound continuously for three minutes.
The emergency siren system consists of 97 sirens situated within a 10-mile radius of the energy center. These sirens are designed to alert residents to potential emergency situations. However, county officials emphasized that the sirens are not a call to evacuate but rather an instruction to tune into local Emergency Alert Broadcast stations via radio or television for further information.
The system is activated by regional emergency management authorities and is an essential component of safety protocols, ensuring that residents receive timely warnings and instructions in case of an actual emergency.
