ELKTON, MD — Adam Streight officially assumed office on Monday, December 2, becoming the fourth County Executive in Cecil County’s history. The swearing-in ceremony, held at Cecil College, marked a significant milestone for the community. Former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich introduced Streight during the event, while Cecil County Clerk of the Court Charlene Notarcola administered the oath of office.
Streight’s leadership will center on two primary objectives—advancing education and bolstering public safety. By working with educators, law enforcement, and community leaders, he aims to strengthen schools, support students, and build secure neighborhoods. These initiatives reflect Streight’s commitment to fostering a stronger, safer, and more unified Cecil County.
“Serving as Cecil County’s County Executive is the honor of a lifetime,” Streight stated, emphasizing his vision to create lasting improvements for families, businesses, and residents across the county.
The ceremony also highlighted other election results of note. Councilman Bob Meffley was recognized for his re-election, while Councilwoman Dawn Branch stepped into her new role on the Cecil County Council. Dianne Heath and Tierney Davis were re-elected to the Cecil County Board of Education, reaffirming their dedication to promoting quality education for the county’s students.
