MILFORD TOWNSHIP, PA— The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has announced a forthcoming bridge construction project set to impact Kumry Road in Milford Township, Bucks County. The work, scheduled to begin on Monday, December 9, will necessitate a full closure and detour of the affected roadway for an extended period.
From Monday, December 9, through Friday, December 20, Kumry Road will be closed around the clock between Rosenberger Road and Walnut Lane to facilitate the construction. During this time, motorists traveling along Kumry Road will be required to follow designated detour routes. Passenger vehicles will be redirected via Allentown Road, Route 663 (John Fries Highway), and Krammes Road. Large trucks, which require adjusted routes due to their size, will be directed to Main Street, Broad Street, Tollgate Road, Route 309 (West End Boulevard), and Route 663 (John Fries Highway).
For drivers requiring local access, portions of Kumry Road leading up to the work zone will remain open to ease the inconvenience caused by the closure. However, motorists should anticipate increased travel times as detours and construction activity are expected to cause backups and delays. Travelers are encouraged to allow extra time during their commutes and to exercise caution in the vicinity of the work zone.
The bridge construction project being undertaken is designed to enhance the reliability and safety of the regional roadway network. While the temporary closure and resultant detours may cause short-term inconvenience for motorists, the upgrades are expected to provide long-term benefits for the local community.
