WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the continuation of construction work aimed at improving safety along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township, Chester County. The ongoing project will bring significant upgrades to key intersections in the area, enhancing traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
From Monday, December 2, through Friday, December 6, lane closures will occur periodically during weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. These closures, managed through flagging operations, will affect the stretch of Business U.S. 322 between Barnard Street and Rosedale Avenue. Motorists traveling through the work zones are advised to anticipate potential delays and are encouraged to allow for extra travel time during the construction hours. All scheduled work is contingent on favorable weather conditions.
PennDOT’s construction plan involves a comprehensive set of improvements. New traffic signals, equipped with modern LED luminaries and retroreflective backplates, will be installed at University Avenue and Sharpless Street. To further enhance safety, the project includes pedestrian countdown timers, high-visibility crosswalks, curb extensions, and drainage improvements. Additionally, the initiative encompasses full-depth pavement restoration and complete resurfacing of the roadway.
The project, valued at $2,619,998, is fully funded by federal resources. Marino Corporation, based in Skippack, Pennsylvania, has been selected as the general contractor. Physical construction is set to span over the next several years, with completion expected in the winter of 2026.
