WEST CHESTER, PA — Downtown West Chester is aglow in festive brilliance as Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester welcomes visitors to an enchanting celebration filled with family-friendly activities, dazzling decorations, and the magic of the holiday season. Coinciding with the town’s 225th anniversary, this cherished tradition promises unforgettable experiences for all ages.

The holiday festivities, organized by the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, run from Black Friday through New Year’s Day, transforming the historic streets into a radiant wonderland with over 80,000 twinkling lights and nearly 150 distinctive shops and eateries.

A Month of Merriment and Tradition

Visitors can indulge in an assortment of free events and entertainment, including live caroling, Santa Claus appearances, a professional gingerbread house competition, and spirited holiday music. Key highlights of this year’s programming include the following must-see events:

  • Balladeer Carolers in Victorian attire enchant shoppers every Friday evening from November 29 through December 21.
  • Weekends feature Santa on a Fire Truck and the Making Spirits Bright Holiday Music Series, running every Saturday from November 30 through December 21.
  • On Friday, December 6, witness the iconic 25-foot Christmas tree lighting at 6:30 p.m., followed by the eagerly awaited West Chester Christmas Parade at 7 p.m., hosted by 6abc’s Adam Joseph and WMMR’s Kathy Romano.
  • From December 4 through January 5, explore the Professional Gingerbread House Competition, with masterpieces displayed around town for your vote.
  • Celebrate on December 14 with events like free photos with Santa from 2–4 p.m. and the 5th Annual Christkindlmarkt, open from 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
