WILMINGTON, DE — Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Mobile Enforcement Team have announced charges against a Wilmington man following an investigation into alleged drug distribution activities across the county.
Authorities identified 25-year-old Akim Gordon as the suspect after opening an investigation in October 2024 into the sale of narcotics in New Castle County. With search warrants issued for two Wilmington properties, the New Castle County SWAT team executed simultaneous operations on Thursday, November 21, 2024. The searches were conducted at a residence in the 200 block of North Ford Avenue and another in the 800 block of West 9th Street, where Gordon was ultimately taken into custody.
During the operation, officers reportedly seized 22.23 grams of heroin, 2.37 grams of crack cocaine, packing materials, a digital scale consistent with drug distribution practices, and a handgun that had been reported stolen from Atlanta, Georgia. Authorities allege the evidence implicates Gordon in narcotics distribution.
Gordon is now facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (Tier 3), possession of a stolen firearm, and endangering the welfare of a child. Officials have also charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia and other related offenses.
Following his arrest, Gordon was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and remanded to the Howard Young Correctional Institution. He remains in custody with bail set at $157,100 cash, which he has not posted as of this time.
Law enforcement underscores that all allegations are subject to ongoing investigation and individuals remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
