HARRISBURG, PAGovernor Josh Shapiro recently revealed a $3 million investment from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to support the growth of Hranec Corp., a homegrown sheet metal manufacturing company based in Fayette County. The initiative is projected to have a significant economic impact, facilitating the construction of a 200,000-square-foot facility, creating 84 full-time jobs, and safeguarding 124 existing positions across the state.

Hranec Corp., founded in 1995, specializes in producing and servicing air handling systems and other sheet metal products. To expand its operations, the company is investing $15.5 million to build the new facility on a 26-acre site in German Township, directly across from its current location. The project will enhance manufacturing capacity by introducing additional production lines and new product offerings, while upgrades to existing facilities will optimize both manufacturing and warehousing operations.

Governor Shapiro emphasized the broader economic message conveyed through this collaborative investment. “Pennsylvania is the best place in the country for businesses to grow and thrive — and seeing homegrown manufacturers like Hranec Corp deepen their roots here in the Commonwealth sends a clear message to other businesses looking to expand or relocate here that Pennsylvania is open for business,” Shapiro stated. “My Administration is committed to making strategic investments, building a skilled workforce, and positioning Pennsylvania as a leader in manufacturing. Together, we’re growing an economy that works for everyone — creating more jobs, strengthening our communities, and ensuring a brighter future for all Pennsylvanians.”

To facilitate this expansion, the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) provided Hranec with a funding package. This includes a $2.5 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan, a $250,000 Pennsylvania First grant, and a $250,000 WEDnet grant to cover employee training initiatives. These investments align with the state’s broader economic development goals while addressing the operational needs of a vital manufacturing company.

DCED Secretary Rick Siger highlighted the alignment of the project with the state’s ambitious growth strategy. “We’re thrilled to support the growth of a great manufacturing company like Hranec — a mainstay in Fayette County for nearly 30 years,” Siger explained. “The Governor’s 10-year Economic Development Strategy is focused on growing our important industries, like manufacturing, to build on Pennsylvania’s resilient economy and unique strengths. We will continue to make bold investments in companies like Hranec and cement the Commonwealth’s status as a manufacturing and economic powerhouse.”

The expansion highlights Hranec Corp.’s long-standing efforts to foster local industry and create economic opportunities for the region. Steve Hranec, the company’s owner and founder, expressed gratitude for the state’s support. “We deeply appreciate the financial support from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” said Hranec. “Governor Shapiro’s economic initiatives and his support for Pennsylvania manufacturing companies make expansions like ours possible. These funds will allow us to expand our HVAC manufacturing line and provide good-paying, local jobs for our families in Fayette County and across Pennsylvania. Special thanks to the Fayette County Commissioners, German Township Supervisors, Fayette County CTI School, and the Albert Gallatin School Board for their support.”

The project’s economic ripple effects were further highlighted by local leaders. Tim Flecker, Executive Director of the Fay-Penn Economic Council, praised both Hranec’s leadership and the company’s long-term contributions to the community. “It has been a pleasure supporting Steve Hranec and the Hranec Corp.,” Flecker said. “Steve has built an impressive business here in Fayette County with customers nationwide and a positive economic impact on his community. He continues to reinvest in his business and represents a great example of U.S. manufacturing.”

As the Commonwealth continues to make targeted investments in key industries such as manufacturing, the Hranec Corp. expansion stands as a noteworthy example of how state support can drive local job creation, industry innovation, and overall economic resilience. By fostering partnerships with businesses like Hranec, Pennsylvania is securing its position not just as a national leader in manufacturing, but also as a state where communities and industries alike can thrive.
