NEW CASTLE, DE — A coordinated investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies has resulted in the arrest of Jermaine Johnson, 45, of New Castle, Delaware, on allegations of large-scale drug distribution. The Delaware State Police announced the charges following the execution of a search warrant on November 19, 2024, at a residence on Constitution Boulevard.
Authorities initiated the investigation through a partnership between the Delaware State Police, the New Jersey Salem County Prosecutor’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI-Delaware). Johnson was suspected of distributing significant quantities of narcotics across Delaware and New Jersey. When law enforcement executed the search warrant, they allege that Johnson attempted to flee on foot into a wooded area near the property. However, officers quickly established a perimeter, located him, and placed him in custody.
A subsequent search of the residence uncovered several items, allegedly linked to drug trafficking, including approximately 851 grams of cocaine, digital scales, packaging materials, multiple rounds of ammunition, and $5,706 in suspected proceeds.
Investigators noted that Johnson is a convicted felon, making it unlawful for him to possess ammunition. He faces multiple felony charges, which include possession with intent to manufacture or distribute a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, operating a clandestine laboratory, and resisting arrest. After processing at Troop 2, Johnson was arraigned and remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $67,000 cash bond.
The joint investigation also implicated additional suspects in New Jersey, leading to arrests linked to this case. Officials have emphasized the importance of collaboration between state and federal law enforcement agencies in addressing narcotics distribution networks that span multiple jurisdictions.
The charges remain allegations at this stage, and Johnson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their efforts to gather evidence and dismantle regional drug operations. Additional updates may be provided as the case develops.
