WILMINGTON, DE — Authorities have announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with a fatal assault that occurred in July. The Wilmington Police Department apprehended Adrian Richardson, 52, and Sonya Tull, 54, following an investigation into the incident.
On July 29, at approximately 12:40 a.m., police responded to a call in the 300 block of East 27th Street regarding an injured person. The victim, identified as 60-year-old Dwayne Clifton, sustained a head injury and was subsequently taken to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division. Working alongside the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences, Detective Shea’s investigation determined that Mr. Clifton’s injuries resulted from an assault.
On November 4, the New Castle County Grand Jury reviewed the case and returned an indictment against Richardson and Tull. The pair were taken into custody on November 18 without incident.
Richardson faces several charges, including manslaughter, first-degree burglary, and second-degree conspiracy. He has been arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with bail set at $50,000 cash-only.
Tull has been charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree conspiracy. She was also arraigned and is currently detained at the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution, with bail set at $15,000 cash-only.
It is essential to emphasize that these charges are merely allegations at this stage. Both Richardson and Tull, like all defendants, are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
