WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department has announced the arrest of a man in connection with a reported shots fired incident in the city. The arrest stems from an investigation initiated after officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to the unit block of South Harrison Street on November 11, following reports of gunfire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Detective Justin Wilkers of the Criminal Investigations Division was tasked with spearheading the investigation. Through his efforts, 26-year-old Adrian Cabreja was identified as a suspect. Subsequent search warrants were issued for his arrest. The investigation progressed when members of the Gun Intelligence Unit located Cabreja on November 18, in the 200 block of Hanover Way. He was taken into custody without incident.
Upon his arrest, Cabreja was found in possession of a loaded AR-15 style rifle, along with 1.44 grams of heroin and 0.5 grams of crack cocaine. As a result, Cabreja faces multiple charges, including three counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, two counts of Reckless Endangering in the First Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Criminal Mischief under $1,000.
Cabreja was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, with bail set at $116,300 cash-only.
It is important to note that all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. An arrest or criminal complaint serves as an allegation, not a declaration of guilt.
