WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of nighttime construction activities targeting improvements on key sections of I-476 and I-76, involving significant infrastructure enhancements in Delaware and Montgomery counties. These operations, part of two distinct projects, are designed to bolster travel safety and efficiency on these vital commuter routes.
Commencing on this evening, November 17, and continuing through Tuesday, November 19, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM, both directions of MacDade Boulevard, spanning between Bullens Lane and School Lane in Ridley Township, Delaware County, will experience lane closures for essential milling and paving work. This effort is a component of a $16.2 million initiative aimed at enhancing travel conditions on MacDade Boulevard and its interchange with northbound I-476.
Simultaneously, from Monday, November 18, through Friday, November 22, nighttime lane closures will impact sections of northbound and southbound I-476, stretching between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges in Montgomery and Delaware counties. These closures, occurring from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, will facilitate patching, bridge repair, and guiderail installation, forming part of a broader $63.7 million project. This extensive undertaking focuses on resurfacing, repairing, and upgrading approximately 17 miles of the interstate from I-76 in West Conshohocken Borough to I-95 in Ridley Township.
Additionally, during the same period, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane closures will also affect the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between Matsonford Road and I-476 in West Conshohocken Borough, targeting crucial bridge repair work.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to plan their travel with these schedules in mind, as significant delays and traffic backups are anticipated in the affected areas. All construction activities are contingent upon favorable weather conditions.
