PHILADELPHIA, PA — As the holiday season approaches, Philadelphia is set to welcome the Light the World Giving Machines, an innovative initiative that combines the spirit of giving with seasonal celebrations. From November 18 to December 4, these unique machines will be stationed at The Cube in Fashion District Philadelphia, offering a novel opportunity for the public to contribute to local and global charities.

The Giving Machines function like traditional vending machines but in reverse, enabling donors to purchase essential items for those in need. This year, proceeds will benefit six charitable organizations: Philabundance, Interfaith Philabundance/Zones of Peace, Mt. Airy Church of God of Christ, Ministry of Caring, Days for Girls, and Mentors International. The event kicks off with a special celebration on November 18 at 11:00 a.m., featuring the first donation of the season, live music, and a festive atmosphere.

Throughout the event’s duration, visitors can engage in various activities, including Eagles Night on November 22, where Philadelphia Eagles’ players will make special appearances. The machines will be accessible during regular mall hours, providing ample time for visitors to explore the range of items available for donation, such as meals, school supplies, and medical kits. Prices range from $5 to $100, ensuring accessibility for a wide audience.

These Giving Machines are part of a global initiative sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which covers all operational costs, ensuring that 100% of donations reach the designated charities. Since their inception in 2017, the Giving Machines have facilitated over $32 million in contributions worldwide.

Ryan Williams, General Manager of Fashion District Philadelphia, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the machines once again, highlighting their role in fostering a culture of giving. “We are dedicated year-round to supporting our local community, helping charities, and supporting families in need,” said Williams.

The Giving Machines promise to be a centerpiece of holiday activities at Fashion District Philadelphia, offering a meaningful way for the community to engage in the spirit of the season. Visitors are encouraged to participate, not only to assist those in need but to embrace the joy that comes from giving.
