MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of construction activities scheduled for next week on U.S. 422, aimed at enhancing road and bridge infrastructure in Montgomery County. These projects are expected to affect traffic flow, with several lane closures and traffic stoppages planned throughout the week.
Starting Monday, November 11, and continuing through Friday, November 15, drivers can anticipate intermittent single lane closures on westbound U.S. 422 between Evergreen Road at the Sanatoga Interchange and Armand Hammer Boulevard. These closures will occur from 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily, as crews work on road and bridge reconstruction.
Additionally, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day during the same week, single lane closures with 15-minute traffic stoppages will be implemented on Sanatoga Road between E. High Street and Linfield Road, and on Porter Road between E. High Street and Sanatoga Station Road. These measures are necessary to facilitate bridge demolition work.
For eastbound U.S. 422, intermittent single lane closures are scheduled between Keim Street and Evergreen Road (Sanatoga Interchange) from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, also for road and bridge reconstruction efforts. Moreover, from Monday, November 11, through Thursday, November 14, a right lane closure will be in place on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Phoenixville/Collegeville (Route 29) and Bridgeport/Valley Forge (Route 23) interchanges for milling and paving operations, occurring from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
These construction activities form part of a broader $83.6 million initiative to reconstruct and improve U.S. 422, including the replacement of two bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road. Meanwhile, concrete patching efforts are part of a $6.9 million project to rehabilitate pavement on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Route 29/Phoenixville and Route 363/Trooper Road interchanges.
