Major Traffic Disruptions Ahead: U.S. 422 Construction Promises Critical Infrastructure Upgrades

Traffic Alert

LOWER POTTSGROVE TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced significant construction activities scheduled for next week on U.S. 422, Sanatoga Road, and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County. This work is part of an $83.6 million project aimed at reconstructing approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway and replacing key bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.

Commencing Monday, November 4, and continuing through Friday, November 8, motorists should anticipate intermittent single-lane closures and potential delays. On westbound U.S. 422, lane closures will occur between Evergreen Road (Sanatoga Interchange) and Armand Hammer Boulevard from 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Similarly, eastbound lanes will experience closures between Keim Street and Evergreen Road from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Additional disruptions are expected on Sanatoga Road and Porter Road, where bridge demolition will necessitate lane closures and 15-minute traffic stoppages from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. These activities will take place between E. High Street and Linfield Road on Sanatoga Road, and between E. High Street and Sanatoga Station Road on Porter Road.

In observance of Election Day on Tuesday, November 5, there will be no travel restrictions on U.S. 422. Motorists are advised to plan for extra travel time due to anticipated backups and delays. All construction activities are contingent upon favorable weather conditions.
