Bridge Mayhem Unleashed: Massive $9.9 Million Overhaul Disrupts Ridley Park Traffic – What You Need to Know!

Traffic, flagging

RIDLEY PARK, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advancing its $9.9 million initiative to replace the Sellers Avenue bridge superstructure in Ridley Park Borough, Delaware County. Scheduled for Monday, October 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, construction will necessitate a lane closure with flagging on Ridley Avenue between Swarthmore Avenue and Morton Avenue to facilitate concrete foundation work.

This project will see the transformation of the bridge with a new 75-foot-long concrete box beam structure, inclusive of two 12-foot travel lanes and pedestrian sidewalks. Enhancements to surrounding roadways—East Ridley Avenue, Sellers Avenue, and Hinkley Avenue—are also planned, featuring milling, resurfacing, stormwater management, and ADA curb improvements.

Motorists should anticipate potential delays and plan for extra travel time. All activities are subject to weather conditions. For the latest updates and traffic information, visiting the MyChesCo Traffic Center is recommended.
