PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia Police are actively investigating the tragic shooting death of a 16-year-old male, which occurred on the evening of May 25, 2024. The incident unfolded on the 1200 block of Fairmount Avenue around 8:38 PM, drawing significant attention due to its violent nature and the young age of the victim.
Surveillance footage released by the authorities depicts three individuals who are believed to be involved in the shooting. These suspects arrived at the scene in a silver Dodge Nitro SUV, a vehicle reported stolen approximately 30 days prior to the incident. The suspects allegedly opened fire, discharging 25 rounds at a group of individuals, including the victim. Following the shooting, they fled the scene, escaping in the Dodge Nitro, which was later abandoned. The suspects were subsequently picked up by a dark-colored Ford Taurus.
The Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit is keen to identify these suspects and is requesting information from the public. They are particularly interested in any groups known to have used a silver Dodge Nitro or a dark Ford Taurus in the vicinity during the relevant timeframe.
In an effort to apprehend those responsible, the City of Philadelphia has announced a reward of $20,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this homicide case. Authorities stress the importance of not approaching the suspects if seen but instead contacting 911 immediately.
