Heads Up, South Philly Drivers: Nightly I-95 Sign Work May Affect Your Route

Travel Restrictions

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of overnight maintenance operations on overhead signs along northbound Interstate 95 in South Philadelphia. These essential activities are designed to ensure the clarity and safety of road signage, a critical component in maintaining efficient traffic flow and safety for all motorists.

The maintenance schedule is set to begin on Monday, October 28, and continue through Thursday, October 31. Lane closures will occur from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning on the nights of October 28 and 29. On October 30 and 31, the closures will extend from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. These closures will specifically impact the stretch of I-95 between Broad Street and Packer Avenue.

Motorists traveling through the area during these times should anticipate potential backups and delays. PennDOT advises allocating extra travel time to accommodate the expected traffic disruptions. As with all such operations, the maintenance schedule is contingent on weather conditions, with adjustments communicated as necessary.
