PHILADELPHIA, PA — Jazz aficionados are in for a treat as Chris’ Jazz Café, Philadelphia’s esteemed jazz venue, welcomes The Heavy Hitters for a stellar two-night performance on November 22 and 23. The iconic sextet, led by the accomplished pianist Mike LeDonne, promises to transport audiences back to the classic sound of the Blue Note era, reminiscent of the vibrant jazz scene of the 1950s and ’60s.

On Friday, November 22, the stage will feature an illustrious lineup with Mike LeDonne on piano, Sean Jones on trumpet, John Webber handling the bass, Kenny Washington on drums, Mike DiRubbo on saxophone, and Steve Davis on trombone. The following night, Saturday, November 23, will see a slight shift in the ensemble’s configuration, with tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander and alto saxophonist Vince Herring joining LeDonne, Jones, Webber, and Washington.

For those looking to extend their jazz experience beyond the Thanksgiving festivities, Chris’ Jazz Café All Stars will take the stage on Saturday, November 30. This performance will showcase the burgeoning talent of 25-year-old guitarist Matthew Rotker Lynn, who has already made his mark at renowned New York City jazz spots such as Smalls and The Django. Joining him will be Alex Claffy on bass, Tyler Henderson on piano, Joe Peri on drums, and special guest saxophonist Sam Dillion.

Performances for both weekends are scheduled at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., with admission set at $35 for The Heavy Hitters and $30 for the Chris’ Jazz Café All Stars. For an elevated experience, Dinner & Show packages featuring a three-course chef tasting menu are available, alongside VIP and general admission tickets. Jazz enthusiasts can also enjoy the performances streamed live on Chris’ YouTube channel, @ChrisJazzCafePhilly.
